An avid traveller, feminist and animal / history / language enthusiast working as a journalist in the lovely land of Luxembourg at the heart of the EU.

Originally from Northern Ireland, I studied French and Spanish at Queen’s University Belfast with an unforgettable year abroad (Erasmus) in Madrid. During my four years at Queen’s, I tested international waters by socialising with the Erasmus and international students and exploring Europe as much as possible (to improve my language skills, naturally).

Having finished my Bachelor and not wanting to stay in one place for long, I moved rather spontaneously (although partly fuelled by Brexit) to Luxembourg in 2016 to study a Master in European Contemporary History, before working full-time as a journalist. During my time here, I’ve found love and friendship, earned a few extra white hairs and laugh lines, and further fuelled my passion for languages, travelling, writing and all things Europe-related.

This blog has been my personal project for the past few years (with some embarrassingly long pauses in between). Here I mainly document my travels, both in Europe and beyond, as well as my language learning experiences and my mental health journey.

Whilst working full time (enter adult mode) has resulted in less time for me to write my blog, I’ve kept up my writing skills with my job as a journalist. And although most of my pieces are news-related, I do write the occasional opinion piece and travel/destination report, so do feel free to check out Chronicle.lu. You can also listen to me and my wonderful co-host LaTasha on the Letz Hear It! podcast for women living, loving and thriving in and around Luxembourg.

As of 2023, I have achieved my “30 before 30” goal, having visited 31 countries (and counting) before my 30th birthday. Unfortunately, some travel plans fell through over the past couple of years due to the COVID-19 pandemic – alas Singapore and Australia will have to wait… but to fill the void, I dedicated this time to taking better care of myself and the environment, exploring more of what Luxembourg has to offer and showering my boyfriend, family and pets with lots of love! With restrictions lifted, I’m enjoying travelling again when I can, be it for work, leisure or to visit my loved ones.

Countries I’ve visited so far:

United Kingdom; Ireland; France; Spain; Hungary; Slovakia; Austria; Czech Republic; Belgium; Germany; Portugal; Italy; Vatican City; Morocco; Switzerland; Greece; Japan; Luxembourg; Bulgaria; the Netherlands; USA; Denmark; Poland; Croatia; Liechtenstein; Niger; Rwanda; Norway; Latvia; India; Romania.
